Gübretas Maden Yatirimlari AS is developing the Söğüt Gold Project located in the Bilecik Province of central Turkey.

Mining operations will be both Open Cut and Underground and the processing plant expects to treat 34t/hr of hour in its initial operational phase, treating the Korudanlik mineralisation.

In Söğüt, the summers are warm, dry, and clear and the winters are very cold, snowy, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from -3°C to 29°C but is rarely below -9°C or above 34°C. The design did, however need to accommodate for snow loading of structures.

Como Engineers was awarded the contract to supply a Detailed Design for the plant which included crushing, milling, gravity separation, CIL, elution and tailings discharge.  The gold plant design will incorporate a Como Engineers modular gold elution plant.

One of the key design considerations was to have the plant operate using green sources of power.  To help accommodate this, the Como Engineers design incorporated an electric Elution Heater, Induction Smelting Furnace and an Electrically heated Carbon Regeneration Kiln to assist with reducing the carbon footprint of the operation.
