For those who don’t have access to a hard copy of the December 15, 2025 – January 18, 2026 Business News Magazine – here is a copy of the article on Como Engineers.

Como Engineers had its origins initially focused on engineering support of mineral processing plants. Early work entailed the design and manufacture of gold elution circuit components, such as quality electrowinning cells.

However, it was not long before Como Engineers became recognised for their expertise in the design and manufacture of entire gold elution plants. Made in a modular form, these plants can be pre-assembled, pre-commissioned and packed ready to be transported to mine sites in Australia or overseas.

Once onsite, the gold elution plants are erected and commissioned within weeks of the sea containers they have been transported in being opened.

Designed in Como Engineers’ West Perth offices, the plants are constructed in the dedicated Maddington workshop and can be powered by diesel, LPG or electricity.

Como Engineers was recently recognised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) as the 2025 Western Australian Exporter of the Year. Supporting this was business generated in Canada, Senegal, Mongolia, Tanzania, Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Egypt, Papua New Guinea, and Turkey.

Recent work has been secured for projects destined for Brazil, Nicaragua and Colombia – highlighting the diversity of the market.

In addition to the export market, Como Engineers also provide EPC/EPCM services for Australian projects.

Como Engineers managing director Grant Blakeman notes the growth of the company over the past two decades. “I’ve seen the company grow from around 20 people in Perth to over 100 between Perth and our Jakarta office. Over that time, we have grown significantly in capacity and capability,” he said.

“The latest project for Victory Minerals in Victoria is a testament to that development. The new 1 Mtpa CIL gold plant, to be delivered in a brownfield environment, will benefit the town of Ballarat and highlights our EPC/EPCM capabilities to develop projects of this size,” he added.

“This is one of several similar projects that we have on our books. We have a solid pipeline and will continue to grow. We now fill a niche project size in the market, meaning we can work with junior and mid-tier miners to support their plans to transition from explorers to producers anywhere in the world.”
