Mineral Processing Equipment

Como Engineers specialises in a range of equipment for the Mining Industry, including carbon stripping plants, carbon reactivation kilns, stainless steel tiling furnaces, calcining ovens and carbon trommel screens.  All these products have been designed and built by Como Engineers to satisfy the demand for better quality than those previously available.
Work of this nature includes crusher circuit and stripping plant upgrades, gravity circuit design and installation (including Inline Leach Reactors; ILR’s), ball mill trommel designing, thickener installation and intertank screen upgrades. Recent such work has been undertaken for Focus Minerals Ltd, Goldfields Ltd, Silver Lake Resources and Dominion Gold Operations to name a few.

With the ongoing need to reduce production costs, Como Engineers is at the forefront in achieving this with our project specific tailored products, helping to improve productivity and efficiency.

Modular Stripping Plants

Como Engineers has an accumulated many years of experience in the design and supply of modular equipment for the Mining Industry. Our success in modular elution, carbon regeneration and gold room facilities comes from the proven value to our clients that modular construction provides. We understand that by choosing a modular construction you are able to work within your budget and time constraints whilst at the same time not having to compromise on quality.

Processing equipment is more than just an accumulation of components. Substantial costs arise from the engineering, design, detailing and fabrication of equipment and freight. These costs are often underestimated or overlooked, especially during on-site construction. With our modular systems ALL components from pipe-work to structural support, to electrical and instrumentation are fully designed, supplied, integrated and pre-commissioned.

Como Engineer’s elution plants are built using our extensive experience in designing and constructing gold desorption systems. All plants are packed in sea containers ready for delivery and erection at your site. Being designed and built to best practice Australian standards, delivers to you a quality product in a relatively short amount of time that is cost effective, reliable and proven.

To expand this service further in 2009 Como Engineers and Bateman Engineering Technologies, formed an alliance to enable efficient distribution of modular plants world-wide providing enhanced technical service and support. As global agent and distributor of the modular gold and elution plants for Como Engineers, Bateman will ensure your required modular plant is delivered and installed on time and on budget.

Pressure or Atmospheric Zadra - Integral Pressure Strip - AARL

Como Engineers can provide you with its well established design experience in carbon elution systems ranging from the traditional Anglo American Research Laboratories (AARL) elution method, through to the more cost effective Atmospheric and Pressure Zadra elution systems and the proprietary high rate desorption strip, the Integral Pressure Strip (IPS). Strip rates as low as 5-8 hours are being achieved by our plants, depending on gold grades and the elution process selected. All complete with custom sized electrowinning cells, horizontal carbon regeneration and gold room modules designed for your needs.

Complete Modular Gold Rooms
Como Engineers can supply modular designed gold rooms that can be integrated with our stripping plants or used as a stand alone unit. The gold rooms can suit any size requirement and complete with all equipment or individual items to enhance functionality to existing gold room operation.

Each gold room is designed to meet each customer's specific requirements and is designed to include your security needs.

All gold rooms are safety designed and well ventilated and come to site completely wired and plumbed up ready for connection to site services.

All our equipment is constructed to the highest standards using high quality materials to ensure many years of trouble free use. Our designs will ensure specific compliance with any local, country or corporate standards

A full range of spares and consumables are available for all our equipment.

Electrowinning Cells

Como Engineers design and manufacture both conventional (atmospheric) and pressurised (IPS) electrowinning cells for precious metals recovery and refining.

Conventional, Atmospheric Cells

These are designed to suit specific requirements, but usually the following 'standard' nominal cathode and anode sizes are used.
1. 600 x 600mm
2. 800 x 800mm
3. 1100 x 1100mm
4. 1250 x 1250mm

The number of cathodes depends on specific requirements but up to 18 cathodes can be installed in our central feed cells. Cell bodies, cathode and anode frames are normally stainless steel, with suitable insulation fitted to prevent short circuiting. The cells therefore have an almost indefinite life, and will not crack or catch fire as often happens with plastic cells. Lockable stainless steel lids are fitted for security, and also act as fume hoods. Cathodes can be fitted with mild steel wool or knitted stainless wool as required. The cells are designed for easy removal of cathodes and anodes, and to facilitate removal of sludge. For sludging cells, commonly used for high silver grades, a V-bottom cell designed is used to facilitate sludge removal.

Pressurised (IPS) Cells

Pressurised electrowinning cells have much greater efficiency than conventional cells because they can operate at a much higher temperature, usually 140 degrees C. All fumes are contained, and the contents are very secure. Como Engineers IPS cells are a modified conventional cell, cantilevered from a face plate, and enclosed by a pressure vessel mounted on tracks. All piping and electrical connections are through the front face plate, and the cell is usually located so that this plate forms part of the gold room wall, with all piping and connections located outside the goldroom, and the cell inside. To open the cell, the flange bolts are undone with an impact wrench, and the lid rolled back to allow access.

Rectifiers

We also design and manufacture a range of rectifiers built for service in typical plant environments - hot, wet and dusty. Cabinets are steel, powder coated and giving IP55 protection. Control is by solid state electronics, with DC voltage and current meters provided.
